Muller’s Joke with Reporter: Where’s Your Hat?
Bayern Munich’s dominant 3-0 victory over Mainz was accompanied by a lively and entertaining TV interview, where Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller had a humorous exchange with Sky reporter Michael Leopold.
Four minutes of pure joy and entertainment that surely brought smiles to the faces of Bayern fans and even neutral spectators!
After Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Mainz, Sky reporter Michael Leopold invited Serge Gnabry for a post-match interview on the pitch.
Gnabry appeared in high spirits and initially answered questions professionally: “We can be satisfied. We controlled most of the game, though we lost possession frequently in the first 15 minutes.”
However, things took a funny turn when Thomas Muller suddenly joined the conversation.
Muller’s Joke: “Where’s the Hat?”
Thomas Muller didn’t miss the chance to jump into the interview. Given that this match marked Muller’s 500th Bundesliga appearance, Leopold congratulated him: “We take our hats off—500 Bundesliga games.”
Muller playfully responded with a wide grin: “Where’s the hat? Oh, it was just a metaphor.”
Though reaching 500 games wasn’t particularly significant for Bayern’s icon.
He said: “I must say, these milestones are always the same. The older you get, the more numbers like these come up. People always look for numbers to celebrate.”
Still, there was a pleasant aspect for him: “What was nice was that the fans stood up and applauded. But the number itself isn’t important—what can I say?”
Muller then joked with Leopold:
“How many games have you reported on? Have you ever been applauded?”
Leopold jokingly replied that he had received “the occasional small applause.”
This response led to another playful moment: Gnabry and Muller put their microphones down and clapped loudly together, making Leopold burst into laughter.
The mood then turned slightly more serious. Leopold asked: Can Bayern Munich secure the Bundesliga title next week in Leipzig? Muller, surprisingly, gave a clear answer this time: “Yes! My answer is yes. This win was very important.”
