Muller: We Were Eliminated by the Best Team in Italy
Thomas Muller, Bayern Munich’s forward, stated that his team gave their all against Inter but ultimately couldn’t defeat the best team in Italy.
Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Inter in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals but lost 4-3 on aggregate, failing to advance to the semi-finals.
Thomas Muller, who is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, experienced his last European campaign with the club after this elimination.
Muller, after Bayern’s elimination against Inter in the Champions League quarter-finals, said: “We are disappointed. I gave everything, we all did. We faced the best team in Italy, which had conceded only two goals in the Champions League before us.”
On the reasons for the defeat, he said: “We can analyze everything, including conceding two goals from set-pieces. I saw players fighting hard on the pitch and showing great energy. I think Inter’s second goal in the first leg was decisive.”
Regarding fan support in the away match, he added: “The fans saw that we gave everything. It’s disappointing for them because the final was in Munich, but the Champions League is not about wishing.”
