Neymar’s Never-Ending Nightmare: Injured Again
Neymar, the Brazilian star of Santos FC, suffered a thigh muscle injury during the match against Atletico Mineiro.
According to reports, Neymar, who started the match against Atletico Mineiro with both legs bandaged, wore a special jersey commemorating his 100th appearance at Vila Belmiro – the home stadium of Santos FC. The former Al-Hilal player has been plagued by injuries in recent years, and this latest setback is another major blow.
ESPN reported that the 33-year-old player suffered a left thigh injury after just 34 minutes and was forced to leave the field during Wednesday night’s Brazilian Serie A match. The former Barcelona star had only returned from a previous injury in the same area last week as a substitute against Fluminense.
Santos’ victory moved them one point clear of the relegation zone in the Brazilian Serie A after four matches. Neymar’s team has one win, one draw, and two losses in their record during his first season back in Brazil’s top football league.
It remains unclear how serious Neymar’s injury is and how long he will be sidelined, but Santos’ coaching staff hopes he can return to action soon.
