Official: French Summer Transfer Window Split into Two Parts

According to reports, FIFA recently announced that due to the new format of the Club World Cup this summer, leagues with participating clubs will be allowed to manage their summer transfer windows in a unique way.

Ligue 1 became the first league to officially implement the changes permitted by FIFA, announcing today that clubs in the French top division can register new players in two separate periods this summer. Clubs will be allowed to register players from June 1 to June 10, and then again from June 16 to September 1.

In a statement, Ligue 1 confirmed that, based on FIFA’s approval and due to the Club World Cup taking place from June 14 to July 13, the summer transfer window will be split into two distinct phases.

Other Ligue 1 clubs will benefit from this privilege thanks to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), as they are the only French club participating in the Club World Cup. To ensure PSG can sign necessary players before the tournament begins, they are permitted to register new signings from June 1 to June 10.
