Ousmane Dembélé Refuses Man of the Match Award After PSG’s Defeat to Aston Villa (Photo)
Ousmane Dembélé declined to accept the Man of the Match award following Paris Saint-Germain’s loss to Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League.
Paris Saint-Germain entered the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals as favorites after securing a 3-1 victory in the first leg. Early goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes extended PSG’s aggregate lead to 5-1, seemingly sealing their progression. However, Aston Villa had other plans.
Goals from Youri Tielemans and John McGinn set up a thrilling finale, but PSG ultimately held on to advance, thanks in large part to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s heroic saves.
Despite the win, Dembélé was visibly frustrated when awarded Man of the Match. Photos showed him leaving the pitch immediately after the ceremony, refusing to acknowledge the honor, likely due to his dissatisfaction with PSG’s overall performance.
