Pedri beautifully scored Barcelona’s first goal against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
According to reports, Barcelona moved one step closer to winning the Copa del Rey. Pedri’s stunning strike from outside the box found the top corner of Thibaut Courtois’ net, breaking the hearts of fans in the stadium.
The La Cartuja Stadium in Seville hosted one of the most controversial El Clasicos in history. Real Madrid had threatened to withdraw due to dissatisfaction with the referees, but the match proceeded on Friday.
Despite the controversies, the match seemed no different from the previous two El Clasicos, both won by Barcelona. The Blaugrana dominated possession from the start and managed to score.
In the 28th minute, Lamine Yamal made a run down the right flank—the same side where Ferland Mendy was substituted early due to injury, replaced by Fran García. Yamal easily entered the box and chose the best option: a pass back to Pedri, who fired a shot into the top corner of Courtois’ goal to make it 1-0.
Interestingly, before the goal, the ball was initially with Real Madrid in midfield, but Jude Bellingham’s misplaced pass allowed Marc-André ter Stegen to clear it, starting Barcelona’s attack that led to the opening goal.
