If Carlito Wins a Trophy, He Stays
Perez Unsure: Xabi Alonso Won’t Become Real Madrid’s Coach!
According to El Chiringuito, Florentino Perez is hesitant about sacking Ancelotti and replacing him with Xabi Alonso.
According to “Varzesh3,” Josep Pedrerol, the host of El Chiringuito, dropped a bombshell last night: Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is unsure about choosing Xabi Alonso as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement!
After Real Madrid’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League against Arsenal, speculation about Ancelotti’s second spell ending has intensified, with many seeing Alonso as the top candidate to replace him. However, Pedrerol believes this decision is far from certain.
Pedrerol emphasized that Perez has never doubted Ancelotti during the season, even after the defeat against Arsenal, and has supported him. He revealed that Perez is unsure about Alonso and is receiving mixed messages from those around him.
Pedrerol said: “Everyone is saying Xabi Alonso, but if Ancelotti wins La Liga and the Copa del Rey, he cannot be sacked.” Winning these two competitions, especially against a strong Barcelona this season, would be a significant achievement, and sacking Ancelotti under such circumstances, according to Pedrerol, would be a major mistake by Perez.
Pedrerol noted that Real Madrid performed poorly against Arsenal, but the club’s management still hopes to win the Copa del Rey and La Liga. If Ancelotti secures these two titles, sacking him would not only be illogical but also against his own wishes. Ancelotti has repeatedly stated in press conferences that he does not seek praise but wants to continue working with Real Madrid, even in a different role.
These statements indicate that Real Madrid is hesitant about choosing Alonso, especially if Ancelotti can end the 24/25 season with a trophy. Victories against Barcelona in La Liga and the Copa del Rey, both highly competitive tournaments, could solidify Ancelotti’s position.
However, heavy defeats against Barcelona this season have fueled negative sentiments about Real’s performance and increased doubts about Ancelotti’s future. Real now faces a tough dilemma: trust the experienced coach or take a risk with Alonso?
