Maybe If It Was Last Year, I Would Have Gone
Raphinha: No One Can Say No to Saudi Arabia’s Money!
Raphinha says he would have left Barcelona if he had received Saudi Arabia’s massive financial offer last year.
According to reports, many media outlets close to Barcelona have recently reported an unbelievable financial offer from Saudi clubs to sign Raphinha in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Now, the player has once again emphasized in an interview with TNT Sports Brazil that his focus is solely on Barcelona, but he did not hide the fact that last year he might have accepted such an astronomical offer.
When asked about it, he said: “I was informed about Saudi Arabia’s offer yesterday, and honestly, I was very surprised because the figures were extremely high. To be honest, if I had received such an offer last year, I think I would have accepted it. At that time, I was going through a bit of a mental crisis, and this offer could have completely changed my life, as well as my wife’s and family’s lives.
It was an amount that could have completely transformed our lives, and anyone who says they wouldn’t go is lying because seeing such figures and not thinking about how they can change your life is impossible. I could have gone.”
Raphinha has admitted in recent interviews that it was Hansi Flick who, through a conversation last summer, resolved his doubts about continuing at Barcelona. However, despite having a contract with Barcelona until 2027, the Brazilian forward reassured Barça fans: “I thought I still had a lot to offer in Europe. I still have a lot to give to this club, and I also had a great opportunity to continue with the national team. That made me turn a blind eye to the money and open my mind more to my dreams.”
The Brazilian star is currently aiming for a treble with Barcelona. He has already won the Spanish Super Cup and is even in contention for the Ballon d’Or with 30 goals and 19 assists. In the UEFA Champions League, he is second in the top scorers’ list with 12 goals, just one behind Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund).
