Fixture Rescheduling
Real Madrid’s Elimination Changes La Liga Schedule!
La Liga has announced changes to the fixtures of Barcelona and Real Madrid in Matchday 34.
Barcelona’s advancement to the UEFA Champions League semifinals, coupled with Real Madrid’s elimination, has prompted La Liga to reschedule both teams’ Matchday 34 fixtures.
In summary, Barcelona and Real Madrid have swapped their fixtures. Barcelona will now face Valladolid on Saturday, May 3, at 9 PM local time, while Real Madrid will play Celta Vigo on Sunday, May 4, at 2 PM local time. Initially, these matches were set to take place in reverse order, pending the Champions League quarterfinal results.
Barcelona will host Inter Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on April 30 at Montjuïc, with the return leg in Italy on May 6. Consequently, La Liga moved Barcelona’s match against Valladolid to Saturday to give Hansi Flick’s squad an extra day of rest before the second leg.
Since Real Madrid has been eliminated from the Champions League, they no longer have a congested schedule during these crucial semifinal weeks, making it irrelevant whether they play on Saturday or Sunday.
