According to “Varzesh3,” the interview of Dr. Niko Mihic, former doctor of Real Madrid, with the newspaper Marca has quickly become controversial in Spain, angering Barcelona fans. Dr. Mihic made strong accusations against Barcelona and its players, even explicitly accusing the club of bribing Negreira in part of the interview.

The most controversial part of the interview was when Dr. Mihic was asked about footballers using wrist bandages. Marca asked: “Lately, we see a trend where many footballers wear wristbands or bandages. Is there a medical reason for this?”

Real Madrid’s former doctor immediately accused Barcelona and its players. Recently, several Barça players using wrist bandages had made headlines in Spain. Dr. Mihic said: “They are implementing a hidden agenda. Barcelona is up to something; otherwise, there is no reason for players to wear bandages if their wrists are fine. Are they playing table football to injure their wrists?”

Marca tried to downplay the controversy, telling him: “But recently, we have seen players from other teams wearing similar bandages.”

Mihic continued: “I don’t believe it’s about fashion. A player uses an accessory only if that part of their body is injured. No one wears a bandage for style. I think Barcelona is up to something, but if you ask them, they’ll deny it, just like they denied bribing Negreira.”

When asked about Real Madrid’s star players: “How is it that Cristiano Ronaldo and Modric are still performing at an elite level in their forties? Is it genetics or their strict health regimen?” He replied: “Much of it comes down to their preparation and discipline in maintaining their bodies. Medical science also plays a supporting role.”

When asked what changes he would make in football to protect players if he were in charge of UEFA or FIFA, he said: “I would increase rest periods between matches. This is more important than anything else. When the body doesn’t have enough time to recover, the risk of injury increases exponentially.”
