Carlo is not to blame for this situation
Real Madrid should think twice before sacking Ancelotti
Arrigo Sacchi, the legendary Italian coach and former Real Madrid sporting director, has strongly defended Carlo Ancelotti.
According to reports, Sacchi sent a clear message to the club: “Do these people know who Ancelotti is?” Sacchi, who held an executive position at Real Madrid between late 2004 and 2005, has come out in support of the Italian coach as Ancelotti faces one of the most difficult periods of his tenure at Real after being eliminated by Arsenal in the Champions League.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi not only defended Ancelotti’s record but also highlighted his human qualities: “Do these people know who Ancelotti is? Do they know his achievements? I consider him a true master of football, not just for his trophies but for his human qualities. Real Madrid should think not once, but two or three times before letting go of someone like Carletto.”
He also expressed sadness about the treatment of Ancelotti: “What saddens me, although it’s part of football, is that everyone is criticizing Ancelotti and blaming him for the Champions League elimination.”
Sacchi pointed to other factors affecting the team’s performance this season: “Let’s look at his squad this season. There have been many injuries, and in many matches he had to play without a specialist defender.”
He also criticized aspects of the club’s management, particularly regarding transfers and the signing of Kylian Mbappé: “They brought in a striker who was expected to be a phenomenon, but he hasn’t performed as expected.”
Sacchi also spoke about his personal experience at Real: “I know very well how Real Madrid works. Florentino Perez is a fantastic president, but he focuses too much on attackers. Think about how I fought for three months to convince him to sign Sergio Ramos because he doesn’t pay attention to defenders.”
