Referee Audio File: Quick Decision Against Kylian Mbappe!
The released audio file of referees’ conversations during the Real Madrid vs. Alavés match shows that Soto Grado did not need much time to decide on Kylian Mbappe’s red card.
According to reports, the recorded audio of VAR officials’ conversations with the referee during the Real Madrid vs. Alavés match has been publicly released by the Spanish Football Referees Committee and is now available.
Initially, Soto Grado did not make a decision on this foul, but Juan Martínez Munuera, present in the VAR room, immediately warned him: “César, César, I recommend reviewing the on-field monitor due to a potential red card.”
In the background, the tension and arguments from both benches are audible as the referee moves toward the monitor: “Let me see it. The contact is high. Okay. The contact is high, it’s severe, with a twist. This is a red card. I’ll take the yellow and give Kylian Mbappe a red card.”
Ultimately, the referee quickly reviewed the incident and changed his decision, ejecting the French star from the match.
Many Spanish media outlets, considering the violence in the incident, claimed that Mbappe could face a two-match suspension. However, the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee ultimately settled on a one-match ban.
