Roma Contacts Cesc Fàbregas as Ranieri’s Successor
Roma’s management is eager to appoint Cesc Fàbregas as the new head coach of the team.
According to reports, Roma has been searching for a new head coach for the upcoming season, as Claudio Ranieri returned from retirement only to save the club in November and will leave in the summer to rest away from football’s pressures.
Several names have been linked with the position in recent days, and now Sky Sport Italia claims that Fàbregas is the latest candidate, with discussions already underway between the two parties.
The former Spanish midfielder helped Como secure promotion to Serie A last season, and the team has now secured its survival in the league—a remarkable achievement. Several clubs, including AC Milan, Juventus, and RB Leipzig, are interested in the young coach, but Como insists he will remain with them.
When the two met in March, Ranieri embraced Fàbregas in the tunnel and shared a warm conversation. The former Barcelona midfielder told him, “I hope to become like you one day.”
Ranieri replied, “No, you shouldn’t hope to be like me. You should hope to be better than me. I say this from the bottom of my heart.”
Fàbregas will face strong competition for the role, including former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli, Ajax’s Francesco Farioli, and current Genoa manager Patrick Vieira.
