Roy Keane’s Outrage:
‘I Can’t Believe This is Manchester United’
Manchester United legend Roy Keane was furious after his former team’s defeat against Newcastle.
Alejandro Garnacho equalized Sandro Tonali’s early goal, giving Manchester United a morale boost before halftime. However, Newcastle’s second-half dominance led to a well-deserved victory, leaving the Red Devils in 14th place.
Harvey Barnes was Newcastle’s standout attacker, exploiting United’s weak defense to score twice within 15 minutes. Altay Bayindir, making his first full Premier League appearance in place of André Onana, gifted Newcastle their fourth goal with a disastrous back-pass in the 77th minute.
This result means United will finish with their lowest-ever Premier League points tally, even if they win all remaining matches.
Keane immediately criticized the team as “physically and mentally weak” and singled out Diogo Dalot for his role in Newcastle’s second goal. Keane told Sky Sports: “You have an experienced right-back who just lets them run past him. He doesn’t even try to tackle—he just gives up! If he does anything, it helps the opponent! I can’t believe this is Manchester United.”
On Bayindir’s mistake, Keane added: “When you look at the decision-making… it’s a huge risk. This is the top level—decision-making is everything. I usually defend new goalkeepers, but this is basic. I can’t understand it.”
