According to reports, Schalke 04, currently struggling in Bundesliga 2, has decided to part ways with experienced manager Kees van Wonderen. The decision was expected after his recent public criticism of the club’s leadership.

Schalke 04 announced van Wonderen’s departure immediately after their 2-2 draw against Hamburg, issuing a statement confirming his dismissal.

Following the match, van Wonderen openly criticized the club’s management, claiming a lack of support and predicting his own dismissal at the end of the season.

Van Wonderen took charge of Schalke in October 2024 on a contract until 2026 but has failed to deliver significant results for the historic German club.

Schalke currently sits 13th in Bundesliga 2 with 38 points, having been absent from the Bundesliga for two years.
