Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan’s head coach, expressed his emotions in an interview with Amazon Prime Video after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at San Siro, which confirmed the Nerazzurri’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Inzaghi’s team had won the first leg 2-1 and delivered a confident performance tonight to secure a draw, earning their spot in the semi-finals where they will face Barcelona.

Inzaghi said after the match: “We had a magnificent night at our home stadium, with our passionate fans behind us and against a strong opponent. We knew we had to deliver two great performances to reach this stage, and thankfully, my players were outstanding. This victory belongs to the entire Inter family. We will continue our journey with strength in this long and emotional season.”

When asked if Inter are now considered serious contenders for the Champions League title, Inzaghi replied: “Achieving success at this level brings double the joy because, on the pitch, money isn’t the deciding factor. Bayern never stopped pressuring us, but we responded strongly to their attacks.”

On his team’s quick reaction after conceding and bouncing back within three minutes, showcasing tactical maturity, Inzaghi said: “The players are the main protagonists. They work with incredible coordination, effort, and sacrifice. We’ve been working together for nearly four years, and despite initial challenges highlighted by Mr. Zhang and later Mr. Oak Tree, we’ve built a great team. This team has brought us trophies and important victories, and this performance is the reward for all our hard work. My staff and I do everything to provide the best conditions for the players.”

Inzaghi explained his conversation with Marko Arnautović before substituting him: “He was injured in the previous match against Cagliari and wasn’t in ideal condition. I asked if he was ready for tonight, and he confirmed he was. However, I ultimately decided to make the substitution. This shows the incredible unity in the team. Even injured players on the bench were fully supportive. Let’s enjoy these extraordinary nights. The atmosphere at San Siro was truly electrifying, and I congratulate my players for their performance.”
