Strange Situation at United: Player Recruitment Manager Fired!

According to reports, sweeping changes in Manchester United’s structure continue at maximum speed. The Athletic reported that Steve Brown, the head of the recruitment department who played a key role in signing new players, will soon leave the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new owner, previously announced an extensive cost-cutting policy. Under his orders, the head of the scouting department has already departed, and the number of scouts will also be drastically reduced.

Meetings are scheduled next week in Manchester United’s HR office to identify officials who must leave the club this summer. The most prominent figure set to be dismissed is Steve Brown, who played the most crucial role in United’s transfers in recent years.

Steve Brown had 80 scouts at his disposal to identify talents worldwide. Ratcliffe argues that paying salaries to this large scouting team is unsustainable and the club does not need a recruitment department. The new owner believes the sporting director alone can handle transfer policies without a separate recruitment department.

So far, Brown is the highest-ranking Manchester United executive to be dismissed for cost-cutting. While fans have been protesting the club’s situation, news of Brown’s dismissal has heightened their concerns for the upcoming season.
