According to reports, Luis Suarez, in an interview with Uruguayan outlet Ovacion, discussed his football ambitions and Lionel Messi’s desire to play in the 2026 World Cup.

Suarez, who plays alongside Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets at Inter Miami, said about his future: “Even though I know I shouldn’t focus on statistics, reaching 600 goals excites me. At 38, I want to achieve this and be among the top 10 scorers in history.”

He added about his future: “I don’t know when I should retire. A footballer is never ready to retire. I experienced this with the national team. Time will tell how far I can go, but I still have the motivation to play. As long as I have this motivation, I will continue. Inter Miami has also given me freedom. If I feel I can contribute, maybe I’ll extend my contract. But it’s still early.”

Suarez also confirmed Messi’s intention to play in the 2026 World Cup: “We joke about it, but he really wants to play in next year’s World Cup.”

Regarding his return to Uruguay’s national team, Suarez was uncertain: “The conditions are tougher for me than for him, but we haven’t talked about it yet. Time will tell what happens.”
