Two Trophies for the Worst AC Milan in a Decade!

AC Milan has had a fragile defense this season and failed in direct matches against rivals, marking their worst performance in a decade. Yet, they might end the season with two trophies.

Two Trophies for the Worst AC Milan in a Decade!

According to “Varzesh3,” ahead of the Coppa Italia derby, AC Milan has reached a new negative record: after 33 weeks, the team has only earned 51 points, their worst result in the last ten seasons.

Only in the 2014-15 season under Filippo Inzaghi did AC Milan perform worse, finishing 10th with 43 points. Currently, Milan is in ninth place, 11 points behind Torino and Udinese, making it unlikely their position will worsen.

Despite investments in the transfer market and finishing second last season under Stefano Pioli, this performance is disappointing.

    AC Milan's poor performance

AC Milan, which was considered a title contender at the start of the season, has had inconsistent performances, fluctuating between brilliance and sudden collapses, even within single matches. A victory against Udinese, which seemed like a comeback, was followed by a weak display against Atalanta.

AC Milan’s main weaknesses are poor results in direct matches against top teams and defensive fragility. In 14 matches against top teams, AC Milan has only earned 8 points. Additionally, their defense has been vulnerable, keeping only 4 clean sheets in 24 matches. If Milan fails to finish in the top eight, they will have to participate in the Coppa Italia from mid-August, which could affect their preparations for next season. Despite this, the team led by Ricardo Sá Pinto, who has already won the Supercoppa, has a chance to win the Coppa Italia and end a disappointing Serie A season with two trophies!
