Victor Lindelof's Secret Revealed: Leaving Old Trafford After a Tragic Incident!

Victor Lindelof left Old Trafford abruptly during halftime of Manchester United’s dramatic Europa League victory over Lyon due to a sudden family emergency. The emergency was caused by a severe injury to his young son, Francis, who had fallen on glass stairs at home, resulting in a deep cut on his forehead.

The Swedish defender, who was on the bench during the match, was immediately taken to the hospital after learning about the incident. However, he returned for the next game, a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton, and even wore the captain’s armband.

Maja Lindelof, his wife, explained on social media that this week had been extremely difficult for their family. She wrote: “An hour before the match against Lyon, our babysitter called and said they were in an ambulance heading to the hospital. My son’s forehead was completely split open. He was following his older brother at home when he hit the glass stairs and fell.”

Maja provided further details about the incident, stating that their son would have a permanent scar on his forehead: “His forehead was split in two. He spent Thursday and Friday in the hospital. He had to undergo plastic surgery to reconstruct his forehead. He was put under anesthesia. This was the first time something like this had happened to one of my children. It was very unpleasant, and I wouldn’t want to experience it again.”

“The surgery was successful, and Francis is recovering well. He’s a real Viking and has returned to normal as if nothing happened. Everyone was worried, but he’s carrying on with his life as usual. The doctors said he’ll have a large scar on his forehead, but that doesn’t matter—I’m just glad everything went well.”

Victor and Maja Lindelof, who married in May 2018, are expecting their third child this year. Lindelof’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of June—a season that has been extremely challenging for the entire team and will likely end with the club’s worst-ever Premier League finish. The 30-year-old defender has made 277 appearances for Manchester United since joining from Benfica in the summer of 2017.
