Vitinha Admits PSG’s Big Mistake
PSG Got Lazy, Lucky to Advance!
Vitinha, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, says he and his teammates got lazy tonight against Aston Villa and nearly bid farewell to the Champions League.
Vitinha, the Portuguese midfielder of Paris Saint-Germain, after the 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, although happy with his team’s hard-fought qualification to the Champions League semifinals, couldn’t hide his disappointment over the defeat in the return leg.
PSG, who had beaten Villa 3-1 at home last week, struggled tonight at Villa Park and ultimately lost 3-2, advancing to the semifinals with a 5-4 aggregate victory.
Vitinha, speaking to Canal+ after the match, said: “We started the game well, but what happened next was our fault. We got lazy and allowed this to happen. We were playing against a team with nothing to lose. We should never have relaxed. That’s why we ended up surrendering and raising our hands. Thank God we advanced in the end.”
The Portuguese midfielder added: “When you play at this level in the Champions League and get lazy, you will definitely be punished and pay the price. In the end, we realized it and managed to resist until we finally secured qualification from this match.”
