Despite City’s €150m Offer
Wirtz Doesn’t Want to Become Guardiola’s Pupil!
German newspaper Bild claims Manchester City has set aside €150 million to sign Florian Wirtz.
According to reports, Florian Wirtz is likely to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Despite Leverkusen offering him a contract extension until 2027, Wirtz has not yet agreed, and several top clubs are rumored to be interested.
German newspaper Bild reported that while Bayern Munich has intensified efforts to sign Wirtz, Manchester City has also prepared a serious plan to acquire the German star. City has allocated €150 million for his transfer, believing this amount could outbid Bayern.
Bild approached Dietmar Hamann and asked him: “Do you think Wirtz could move to Manchester City?”
Hamann replied: “Anything is possible. He might even stay at Leverkusen and extend his contract. I know, and you’ve reported, that City wants Wirtz. But based on my sources, Florian himself doesn’t want to join City. My source close to him says he hasn’t explained why he’s against the move.”
Hamann also said he believes Wirtz won’t move to Spain and that Bayern Munich will be his destination if he leaves Leverkusen: “I’m not sure Real Madrid would pay around €150 million for him.”
