Xabi Alonso: We Won’t Win the Title but Must Defeat Everyone
Xabi Alonso, the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, claimed that despite losing the chance to win the title, his team will aim for victories in the remaining matches.
According to reports, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Augsburg 2-0 in the 31st week of the Bundesliga, delaying Bayern Munich’s title confirmation for another week.
Xabi Alonso said in the post-match press conference: “It was a good game, and we secured the three points by scoring two goals in the first half. In the second half, we controlled the game well, and I’m happy we kept a clean sheet. We definitely want to maintain this performance in the last three matches.”
Player dissatisfaction with bench roles
I try to be honest with the players and inform them about my decisions, ensuring everyone gets playing time.
Buenia’s attitude today was excellent. He deserved more minutes, and I’m glad he made the most of his opportunity.
Buenia’s goal
He played intelligently and capped off his good performance with a goal. Choosing the starting lineup is sometimes the toughest job for a coach.
Jonas Hofmann also played well, and we aim to utilize all players’ abilities in the final weeks. I’m happy the players are responding well to the coaching staff’s trust.
