    105-105: Barcelona’s Another Remontada

Barcelona started the season with 101 wins in El Clasico compared to Real Madrid’s 105, but by the end of the season, they have leveled the historic rivalry between the two Spanish giants at 105 wins each.

    105-105: Barcelona's Another Remontada

Barcelona’s 4-3 victory on Sunday at Montjuïc not only practically secured La Liga (with a seven-point lead, better goal difference, and only nine points remaining) but also showed that the balance of El Clasico is tilting back towards the Blaugrana.

With this win, Barcelona now has 105 victories in El Clasico history, exactly the same as Real Madrid. The two teams have also drawn 52 matches. After 262 encounters, the two sides are perfectly balanced. Even in goals scored, the competition is very close: Real Madrid has 443 goals while Barcelona has 439, just a four-goal difference in favor of Real.

In terms of top scorers, three players stand out: Lionel Messi with 26 goals is the all-time top scorer for Barcelona in El Clasico (he scored a hat-trick in his first match against Real), while for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stéfano, both with 18 goals, lead the list.

The notable aspect of this rivalry is that Barcelona started the season with four fewer wins than Real. But as the season progressed, Hansi Flick’s team gradually closed the gap. First, in late October at the Bernabéu, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Barcelona; a flawless team performance with goals from Robert Lewandowski (double), Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha.

Then, in the Spanish Super Cup final, Barcelona won 5-2 despite being reduced to 10 men due to Xavi’s red card. Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha (twice), and Balde were the scorers in this match.

Three months later, in the Copa del Rey final, Barcelona won 3-2 in extra time. Pedri, Ferran Torres, and Jules Koundé (winner) were the scorers.

Two weeks later, Flick’s team cemented their superiority with a 4-3 win at Montjuïc. Raphinha with a brace, Yamal with his third goal in El Clasico, and Eric García were the stars of the match. These four victories allowed Barcelona to level the head-to-head record with Real Madrid once again.
