15,000 Argentines Banned from Club World Cup Stadiums
The Argentine government has submitted a list of 15,000 Argentines barred from entering U.S. stadiums where River Plate and Boca Juniors will play in the Club World Cup.
According to reports, these 15,000 fans are already banned from stadiums in Argentina, and the restriction will extend to the tournament held between June 14 and July 13 in the United States. Patricia Bullrich, Argentina’s Security Minister, symbolically handed the list to Abigail Dressel, the U.S. Embassy official in Buenos Aires, during a press conference.
Bullrich stated: “No individual with a history of violence or extortion will be allowed into the Club World Cup. This is a method to strengthen international security through cooperation.” She confirmed that over 1,300 matches have been monitored this season, with more than 1,000 individuals under investigation identified. Compared to last year, the number of people banned from stadiums has increased by 111%.
Bullrich warned: “We do not know who has visas or not, but authorities will verify the information and enforce strict entry controls.”
It is worth noting that Argentine football has faced repeated disruptions due to extremist fan violence in past years, leading to match suspensions for weeks. However, conditions have improved significantly in recent years.
