Giorgio Furlani’s Disappointment:
Defeat in Final Completes AC Milan’s Season of Failure
Giorgio Furlani, AC Milan’s director, expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance this season.
According to reports, Bologna defeated AC Milan 1-0 in the Coppa Italia final held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, denying Sergio Conceicao’s team the trophy.
AC Milan currently sits in eighth place in Serie A, a position that may completely exclude them from European competitions next season. The team was also eliminated from the UEFA Champions League playoff round after a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Feyenoord.
The only bright spot of the season for AC Milan was their victory in the Italian Super Cup, where they staged a dramatic comeback from a 2-0 deficit against Inter Milan, winning 3-2 with a last-minute goal from Tammy Abraham.
However, fan dissatisfaction has intensified, especially after Inter Milan’s advancement to the UEFA Champions League final. Furlani spoke to Sport Mediaset after the match about AC Milan’s disappointing season. While congratulating Bologna on their historic victory, he acknowledged the fans’ frustration and promised improvements for the next season.
Furlani said: “First of all, I must congratulate Bologna on this historic achievement. It cannot be denied—this season has been a failure for us. Despite winning the Super Cup, we are far from the goals we set for ourselves.
Like the fans, we are upset about this situation. Many mistakes have been made, and we must look to the future to correct them and return to the position that the management and fans expect.”
