Ange Postecoglou’s Anger: What Does Manchester United’s Results Have to Do with Me!

Ange Postecoglou was furious after a journalist’s question following Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final second leg.

    Ange Postecoglou's Anger

Ange Postecoglou lost his temper during a press conference after Tottenham’s 2-0 win (5-1 on aggregate) against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final second leg.

This outburst occurred when Matt Law from The Telegraph asked him: “Manchester United has repeatedly stated that this competition cannot save their season. Is it different for Tottenham? Can this trophy save Tottenham’s season?”

Postecoglou angrily replied: “I don’t care. Why should I care what Manchester United thinks? What does this question have to do with me? Go ask Manchester United’s manager why he said that. I’ve said from the beginning that this competition is important to us.”

The journalist then asked: “So what does this competition mean for Tottenham’s season?” The Australian manager threw the question back: “You’ve probably followed this club longer than I have. What do you think winning a trophy means for this club?”

The journalist answered: “A lot.” Postecoglou then calmly said: “Exactly, so the question answers itself.”

He continued: “But what’s happening now is that people are afraid… that this might actually happen. Because we might actually win this trophy, and now they’re trying to downplay it or devalue it. They say we haven’t had a good season, we don’t deserve it, or they compare us to Manchester United to diminish the value of this potential success.”

Manchester United is currently 15th in the Premier League table, while Tottenham is one point behind in 16th. Both teams have endured a nightmare season but still have a chance to win a trophy and qualify for the Champions League.

The two teams will face each other in the Europa League final on Wednesday, May 21, in Bilbao. This match will not only determine the winner of a prestigious trophy but also bring significant financial rewards and a Champions League spot for the winner, directly impacting their summer plans.
