Serious Competition with Chelsea
Arsenal Joins Race for AC Milan’s Star Forward
Arsenal is preparing to begin negotiations with AC Milan to sign Rafael Leao.
According to reports, Leao’s current contract with AC Milan includes a €175 million release clause, designed to deter potential suitors. However, there are indications that Milan’s management might reconsider their stance this summer.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, Chelsea has shown interest in the Portuguese winger. Italian media reported on Friday that Arsenal has also entered the race and is ready to compete with Chelsea for his signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Calcio Mercato reports that Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s new sporting director, has identified Leao as a primary transfer target. Despite having Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Raheem Sterling on the left wing, Arsenal aims to strengthen this position in the summer.
AC Milan has explicitly stated they have no intention of selling Leao this summer. However, recent reports suggest an unexpected offer of around €100 million could initiate negotiations, with Milan’s management open to evaluating incoming proposals.
