Arturo Vidal Cleared of Sexual Assault Charges
After months of investigation, Arturo Vidal, the former star of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Juventus, has been acquitted of sexual assault charges.
According to reports, the allegations stemmed from a private party in 2024 at a nightclub in Santiago, Chile, celebrating a victory by Colo-Colo and the birthdays of two players. The sister of one of the women present, who claimed her sister was assaulted under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs, filed a complaint against Vidal.
The prosecution, after reviewing evidence including witness statements, security footage, biological tests, and a site visit, stated there was insufficient proof to substantiate the charges against Vidal. However, investigations into other individuals’ involvement continue. Felipe Sembrano, the prosecutor in the case, confirmed that the acquittal was upheld by the court.
Vidal’s lawyer, José Pablo Forteza, explained that the case involved two defendants: Vidal and another individual whose identity remains undisclosed. While Vidal’s case has been closed, investigations into the second defendant are ongoing. On the night of the incident, several Colo-Colo players testified as witnesses, but only Vidal was taken to the police station for identification before being released.
Vidal, who has played for top clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Flamengo, and Athletico Paranaense, returned to Colo-Colo, his first club, in January 2024.
