According to reports, one of Barcelona’s primary targets to strengthen their squad for the next season was Jonathan Tah. The 29-year-old’s contract expires on June 30, allowing him to join any club for free. His signing was unanimously agreed upon by the club’s sporting directors and Hansi Flick. However, it now seems likely he will stay in the Bundesliga.

In fact, a verbal agreement between Tah and Barcelona was reached weeks ago, but the Catalan club cannot finalize the transfer due to unresolved financial regulations for the upcoming summer. This uncertainty has prevented Barcelona from securing the deal.

Reports from Germany now suggest that Bayern Munich has taken the lead in the race to sign Tah. German outlet Bild claims that Bayern has suddenly become the frontrunner, while Sky Sport Germany reports that the Bundesliga champions have already submitted a formal contract offer to Tah.

According to these reports, negotiations between the two parties are ongoing, and final contract details are yet to be finalized. However, it appears Tah is more inclined to join Vincent Kompany’s project at Bayern rather than Hansi Flick’s at Barcelona.

As a result, despite Barcelona’s strong efforts to sign the experienced defender, their financial instability and Bayern’s aggressive pursuit have significantly reduced the likelihood of this transfer materializing.
