According to reports, Rodrigo Caetano, director of national teams at the CBF, appeared on Sport TV to outline the timeline for selecting Brazil’s next coach. He stated that Brazil will finalize the leadership of Seleção by next week and will not wait any longer for any candidate.

It is clear who the national team director is referring to: Carlo Ancelotti, who continues to evade giving a clear answer to the Brazilians.

The CBF has run out of patience and does not want to wait any longer for Ancelotti. Rodrigo Caetano, in an interview with the TV network, was asked about the likelihood of Ancelotti—the preferred choice of the federation president—taking charge of Seleção: “Internal meetings at the CBF are ongoing non-stop. The president and I will announce the head coach as soon as possible. I cannot provide further details because confidential negotiations are underway. Therefore, discussing probabilities is impossible. We know that selecting Brazil’s national team coach is a national responsibility and a heavy burden on our shoulders. But I declare here that the coach’s fate will be decided within a week at most, and we will not wait any longer.”
