According to reports, this former Barcelona and Milan star emphasized in a social media post that he always preferred Brazil’s national team to be coached by a Brazilian manager, adding: “Ultimately, all five of our World Cup titles were won with domestic coaches, and so far, no foreign coach has managed to win the World Cup with a team other than their own country.”

However, Ricardo Sá Pinto believes that hiring a foreign coach has become inevitable due to recent poor results and pressure from the media and fans. He said: “At least they chose one of the best. A successful coach I had the honor of playing under at Milan. Ancelotti has succeeded at every club he’s been with, and despite the limited time until the World Cup, he has the ability to achieve something great.”

The 2002 World Cup winner, who has played for Barcelona, Palmeiras, and Deportivo La Coruña, compared Ancelotti’s situation to that of Luiz Felipe Scolari, who took charge of Seleção in 2001, a year before the Korea-Japan World Cup, and led them to victory.

Ricardo Sá Pinto stated: “Ancelotti can form a strong and balanced team that combines the best of European and Brazilian football. With sufficient support and time to assess the domestic situation, he can lead Brazil to its sixth dream title. I wish him success in this great challenge.”
