Famous Mineral Water Company Shuts Down
Business Bankruptcy: Steven Gerrard’s Investment Goes Up in Smoke!
A famous mineral water company, in which Steven Gerrard was an investor, has gone bankrupt.
According to reports, Gerrard and several of his close investors had invested approximately £2.5 million in the water company “Angel Revive,” which was founded by Mark Doyle, a longtime friend of the player, in 2016.
However, The Sun newspaper has now reported that the company has permanently closed after years of financial difficulties. According to documents filed with the Companies House, the company ended operations with debts amounting to £542,220, nearly £400,000 of which was related to unpaid rent.
Gerrard owned 25% of the company’s shares and invested a total of £371,524. Reports indicate that only £50,000 of this amount was returned to him, and the majority of his investment has been lost. He was also the brand ambassador for Angel Revive.
The brand, which produced alkaline water, promoted itself in advertisements as health-focused and a “superhero” in purity and nutrition. Its water was sourced from a spring in the village of Madzley in Lancashire, a source that has been noted for its therapeutic properties since the 18th century. The company’s website claimed that the water was naturally rich in minerals and electrolytes, helping to maintain “optimal body pH balance.”
However, the company is now listed on Google as “permanently closed,” and its Instagram link redirects to a domain error page. Angel Revive’s Instagram page has over 34,000 followers, but the last post dates back to December 2021.
Previously, in October 2020, it was reported that the brand had debts of nearly £1 million, a crisis that has now peaked with the complete cessation of the company’s operations, resulting in financial losses for Gerrard.
