    Fabregas to Remain at Como

Primary Replacement for Xabi Alonso Declines Offer

Cesc Fabregas’ future is tied to Como, as he rejected Bayer Leverkusen’s offer and will stay in Italian football.

Primary Replacement for Xabi Alonso Declines Offer

According to reports from Sky Italy, Como confirmed that Fabregas will remain in Italy after Bayer Leverkusen expressed interest in hiring the young Catalan coach as a replacement for Xabi Alonso, who is set to join Real Madrid.

Como, in which Fabregas himself is a shareholder, has convinced him to continue leading the team next season.

Despite interest from top clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and AS Roma, Fabregas has repeatedly emphasized in interviews and press conferences that his priority is Como. He also has a contract with the club until June 2028.

    Como's recent success

This season has been brilliant for Como. Returning to Serie A after a 21-year absence, the team not only secured survival early but also achieved six consecutive wins—their best streak in Italy’s top flight—reaching 48 valuable points.

Como now has bigger ambitions. The club spent over €40 million in the summer and €50 million in the winter transfer window, totaling €96 million in investments this season. This level of spending for a newly promoted Serie A team highlights the financial strength of the Hartono brothers, among the wealthiest individuals in Southeast Asia.

Additionally, Como is planning to build a new stadium (likely to be completed in 2027 or 2028), develop an advanced sports complex, and retain key talents.
