This is the most unique Champions League final of the century
Champions League Final: History Against Taremi!
Champions League finals held in Munich have all had one thing in common—and it works against Inter Milan.
According to reports, Inter Milan and PSG will face each other for the first time in history in an official match, which is a rare and interesting occurrence. Inter is chasing their fourth title, while PSG is seeking their first.
Three titles vs. none
Seven finals compared to two. This is the comparison between Inter Milan and PSG, the finalists of the 2025 Champions League. Inter won in 1964, 1965, and 2010. PSG played their first final in 2020 at the Da Luz Stadium and lost to Hansi Flick’s Bayern Munich. Now, under Luis Enrique, they have reached the final again. The Spanish coach previously won the title with Barcelona in 2015 (against Juventus). The clash between PSG and Inter Milan has never happened before. In Munich, on May 31, it will be their first encounter—and in a major final.
The venue and the clash between these two teams will create exciting stories for the new European champion:
Achraf Hakimi against Inter, his former team
One of the standout names in the final will be Achraf Hakimi. The Moroccan player wore Inter’s jersey in the 2020-21 season. He scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists in 45 games before being sold to PSG for €68 million. He won Serie A with Inter in 2021.
A special duel for Donnarumma
The final against Inter will be special for Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG’s goalkeeper. The Italian player grew up at AC Milan, Inter’s fierce rivals. He has only won twice in 11 encounters with Inter.
Allianz Arena, a familiar place
Yann Sommer and Benjamin Pavard will return to their former home with Inter. Both previously played for Bayern Munich. The same applies to Lucas Hernandez, who left Bayern to join PSG.
Three former Champions League winners
Lucas Hernandez (Bayern) and Achraf Hakimi (Real Madrid) are the only PSG players with Champions League-winning experience. Inter has a similar situation. Benjamin Pavard (Bayern) could win his second title.
The host
With Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s permission (born in Germany but identifies as Turkish), Yann Bisseck will be the only German player in Inter and PSG’s squad competing for the title in his home country.
Stats and figures
The final against Inter could bring back good memories for Marquinhos. The Brazilian never lost to Inter while playing for Roma. However, Fabián Ruiz has only beaten Inter twice with Napoli. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also doesn’t have a great record against Inter.
Marcus Thuram against PSG
The French striker, who plays for the national team, has faced PSG six times while at Borussia Mönchengladbach. His record is unfavorable: one win, one draw, and four losses.
Four precedents in Munich
This is the fifth Champions League final held in Munich. In the previous four, the team without a previous title always won: Nottingham Forest (1979), Olympique Marseille (1993), Borussia Dortmund (1997), and Chelsea (2012).
