Chelsea Star Wesley Fofana Banned from Driving for Two Years

Wesley Fofana, Chelsea defender, has been banned from driving for two years due to repeated traffic violations involving luxury cars.

Wesley Fofana has been handed a two-year driving ban after committing eight traffic offenses, including excessive speeding in luxury vehicles. He has also been fined a substantial amount.

According to the Daily Mail, the French defender accumulated 47 penalty points on his license due to speeding violations, leading to the driving ban. Fofana was repeatedly caught speeding on his way to Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham, where the speed limit is 50 mph. Camera evidence showed him driving at speeds of 77, 68, 90, 88, and 67 mph.

The young player, whose offenses were recorded in vehicles such as a white Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a blue Audi, and a Lamborghini Urus, pleaded guilty to all charges at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court. In addition to the driving ban, the judge ordered him to pay a fine of €6,328 plus €2,661 in legal costs.

John Suns, the presiding judge, stated: “The minimum disqualification period today is 12 months, but given that he is someone who consistently drives luxury cars and has been seen multiple times at speeds nearly double the legal limit, this period has been increased to two years.”

Imogen Cox, Fofana’s lawyer, defended her client: “Mr. Fofana, aware that he was to be disqualified, did not attend court today on my advice. He has not been behind the wheel since 9:30 this morning. He accepts that he made mistakes and violated traffic laws. On his behalf, I also apologize for these offenses.”

Fofana had previously been banned from driving for six months in January 2023.
