Conceicao: Not thinking about dismissal, only focused on the last two matches
Sergio Conceicao, AC Milan’s head coach, claimed that the only thing on his mind right now is success in the last two matches of the season.
AC Milan lost 1-0 to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final, extending Rossoneri’s 22-year failure to win the trophy.
Sergio Conceicao said in the post-match press conference: “The first half was balanced, we had two chances to score, and the lead in these games is crucial. In the second half, we could have done more, Bologna scored with a bit of luck and skill.
After the goal, the game was very poor. I don’t want to make excuses, but I won’t talk about the referee, otherwise, they’ll say I’m making excuses tomorrow.
We should have worked harder. We won the Super Cup, reached this final, and now we’re thinking about finishing the league with pride. I’m sorry for the fans who were excited about the team—this is a big disappointment for everyone. These games are decided by details. Bologna scored, and we conceded.”
When you talk about disappointment, what do you mean?
We played very fast and direct. The first half wasn’t even bad, while in the second half, we could have done more, but other things were also at play. This was a very competitive match, and in every duel, we had to give our all. I think this is somewhat a reflection of the season.
Disappointment comes from losing the final and the chance to win a difficult trophy. In the end, I must congratulate Bologna because they played well while we seemed to lack something.”
Will we see you on the bench in the next Coppa Italia?
See you on Sunday in Rome for the Serie A match.
Milan didn’t seem in good shape tonight. Are you disappointed?
We could have performed better in the second half. As I said, I don’t want to talk about the referee, otherwise, they’ll say I’m looking for excuses. After all, a human can make mistakes.”
What’s on your mind for the future?
Right now, thoughts about the match, the choices made, etc., are there. I’m not new to football. Now, my mind is only focused on figuring out what went wrong and what could have been done better. The trophy is gone; nothing can be done except to look forward with dignity, and then we’ll talk about the future.”
