Dominik Szoboszlai Didn’t Want Trent Alexander-Arnold to Be Booed!
Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai asked fans not to boo Trent Alexander-Arnold after the match against Arsenal.
According to reports, the England international faced mixed reactions from fans at Anfield when he was substituted in the second half of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal. Later in the match, he failed to clear a ball leading to Arsenal’s second goal, which further angered the crowd.
Arnold announced on Monday that he would leave Liverpool as a free agent at the end of the season. Reports suggest the Liverpool academy graduate has reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid.
Naturally, this decision has divided Liverpool fans, and some sections of the crowd audibly booed him when he was substituted for Conor Bradley in the second half.
The booing continued even after the final whistle. Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele reported that some fans booed Arnold as he thanked the supporters.
Steele also claimed that Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai gestured to the fans to stop booing his teammate, but his efforts were largely unsuccessful.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot also addressed the incident in his post-match press conference, saying: “One of the advantages of living in Europe is that everyone can have their own opinion, and it’s the same at Liverpool. Some people were unhappy with him, some applauded him, and some booed him. But in the end, the reactions became more positive.”
