Despite rumors of Goodison Park’s demolition after the opening of Everton’s new stadium, the club confirmed yesterday that the historic ground will serve as the home venue for Everton Women starting next season.

Meanwhile, Everton’s men’s team will play their final match at Goodison Park against Southampton in the 37th round of the Premier League before moving to the new 53,000-seat stadium next season.

Megan Finnigan, captain of Everton Women, said: “This move is a testament to the current standing of the Women’s Super League. Goodison Park is a magical stadium with a rich heritage and a strong bond between the people and Everton FC.”

Additionally, Goodison Park will also host some matches for Everton’s youth teams next season. Notably, Goodison Park has been the primary home of Everton’s men’s team since 1892, with Southampton being the last team to visit the historic ground next Sunday.
