According to reports, although Ederson’s contract with Manchester City is valid until 2026, several Saudi clubs have expressed interest in the 31-year-old goalkeeper, who previously played for Benfica. Due to uncertainty about Ederson’s future, City is looking for a suitable replacement, and according to ESPN, they have two specific options in mind.

One of Pep Guardiola’s main targets is Diogo Costa, the starting goalkeeper for the Portuguese national team and Porto. Manchester City has made an offer of around €40 million for the goalkeeper, but Porto’s management has demanded a higher fee of around €60 million. Diogo Costa, who was developed in Porto’s academy, has been the team’s first-choice goalkeeper since 2021. At 25, he has made 195 appearances for Porto and 34 international appearances for Portugal. His contract is valid until 2027, with a release clause of €75 million.

In addition to Costa, Manchester City is also interested in Juan García, the goalkeeper of Espanyol, whose release clause is €25 million. Manchester United, under the management of Rúben Amorim, is also interested in this Spanish goalkeeper.

The situation in Manchester City’s goalkeeping department could become more complicated, as backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is also likely to leave the club in the summer. Despite having one year left on his contract, rumors suggest a possible move to Bayer Leverkusen.
