Focusing on Inter first
Barcelona star Fermín López: I have no doubt we will beat Real Madrid
Fermín López says he is confident Barcelona will secure all three points in their match against Real Madrid.
According to reports, López did not hesitate for a moment and, upon receiving the ball from Gerard Martín, sent a shot towards the opponent’s goal in the 61st minute to make it 1-2 in favor of Barcelona—a result that ultimately brought three crucial points for Barça in Valladolid.
With this hard-fought victory, Hansi Flick’s team successfully navigated another week and took a firm step toward the title, increasing pressure on Real Madrid, who are currently seven points behind the Blaugrana.
After the match, López told reporters: “This team does not give up; it fights until the last moment, regardless of how the game unfolds. I think we improved in the second half and secured three important points. The goal that Valladolid scored with a bit of luck made the game difficult. Space was limited, and we struggled to create chances, but we performed better in the second half.”
Only four matches remain in La Liga, and Barcelona’s next game against Real Madrid will be at the Montjuïc Stadium—a potentially decisive encounter. López commented: “First, we must focus on the match against Inter. We have a real final ahead of us in Milan, and we must enter it with full determination. It will be a tough game, and we must prepare with motivation and focus.”
When asked if a Barcelona victory over Real Madrid on Sunday would mean an early end to the season and Barcelona’s title win, the player replied: “Anything is possible, but we will try to prepare for El Clásico after Inter. I am sure we will take all three points.”
Fermín also spoke about the physical condition of his teammate Gavi, who left the field in the 77th minute with discomfort, raising concerns: “I think it was just a muscle cramp—nothing serious.”
