According to reports, a shocking incident in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has caused widespread concern. An armed attack in broad daylight targeted a group of players from Flamengo, one of the country’s most historic and prominent football clubs.

While speculation about the motive behind the attack is rampant, media sources indicate that the police believe an armed criminal gang intended to rob the Flamengo players.

The Flamengo squad, returning from a Copa Libertadores Group C match against Central Cordoba in Argentina, faced this attack upon arrival in Rio.

Flamengo released a statement confirming that the car of Agustín Rossi, the team’s goalkeeper, was hit by four bullets while traveling on one of Rio de Janeiro’s highways.

Flamengo described the incident as serious and terrifying but confirmed that none of the players were injured, and they managed to reach their homes safely.

Brazil’s military police also issued a statement, confirming that officers are currently conducting search operations in the area to apprehend the attackers.
