Harry Kane: I Never Gave Up Until I Finally Became a Champion
Harry Kane, Bayern Munich striker, is highly motivated after winning the Bundesliga and says he never gave up on achieving this goal.
According to reports, Harry Kane, at 31, has finally experienced the feeling of winning a trophy, removing himself from the list of great footballers who never won a title. After several bitter experiences with Tottenham and the England national team, Kane joined Bayern Munich in 2023 with the hope of adding silverware to his career.
Despite all predictions, he had to wait until this season to win the Bundesliga with Bayern, breaking a curse that had followed him throughout his professional career.
The English striker, after lifting the Bundesliga trophy, stated that he had gone through tough times, but it was all worth it to prove that his goals could lead to championships. Kane believes this is the beginning of a special era.
In an interview with The Guardian, he said: “It feels great to be on this side of the story, honestly. Having a celebration I’ve never experienced before. This doesn’t change me as a player. I’m no different than before winning. This was something missing from my resume. Maybe now that I’ve won my first trophy, there will be less to say and criticize about me, but again, this is part of the journey.”
Kane, reflecting on his move to Munich in 2023, emphasized the importance of stepping out of his comfort zone: “I could have easily stayed at Tottenham, played in the Premier League, and continued scoring goals, but I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to prove myself in the biggest games, competing for titles and in the biggest Champions League matches. I did that. I think this is just the start of a special period.”
Inspiration from Tom Brady
Harry Kane’s interest in the NFL is well-known, but few are aware of the influence Tom Brady and his documentary had on the Bayern striker—an influence that kept him from giving up on his dream of winning trophies.
Harry Kane explained: “It definitely helped me because I saw many similarities between myself and Brady. No one expected him to reach this level. I think my story is something people can relate to—a story of hard work and never giving up. Never give up. Accept the highs and lows. In sports, in life, nothing is perfect. There will be moments when things don’t go your way, and you have to find the inner strength to push through.”
