History Awaits Al-Ahli’s Three Stars
Three stars of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli are on the verge of achieving a rare record in football history.
According to Varzesh3, Al-Ahli will face Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale in the AFC Champions League final tomorrow in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. If Al-Ahli wins, three players will achieve a unique honor: winning both the UEFA Champions League and the AFC Champions League.
Al-Ahli has three players who have previously won the UEFA Champions League: Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, Senegal’s Edouard Mendy, and Brazil’s Roberto Firmino. Interestingly, each won the title with different English clubs: Firmino with Liverpool in 2019, Mendy with Chelsea in 2021, and Mahrez with Manchester City in 2023.
Notably, Al-Ahli has never won the AFC Champions League, having lost in the finals in 1986 and 2012. Now, the Saudi team and its three stars have the opportunity to make history and redeem past failures.
