Matthijs de Ligt, Marotta and Inzaghi’s Top Target
Inter’s Ambitious Plan: Revamping the Defense Line
Inter Milan has ambitious plans to strengthen its defensive line and will monitor several top European defenders this summer.
According to reports, there is a high probability that one of Inter Milan’s central defenders will leave the club this summer. Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi has discussed with Giuseppe Marotta the need for changes in the team’s defensive organization.
As a result, Inter has prepared an ambitious plan to revamp its defensive line. The primary target currently on Marotta’s desk is Matthijs de Ligt. Serie A is familiar with this Dutch defender. Reports suggest Inzaghi has approved this option and told Marotta there is ample space for de Ligt in his team.
Matthijs de Ligt left Italy in 2022 when Bayern Munich signed him for €67 million. De Ligt struggled at Bayern and eventually moved to Manchester United.
In the summer of 2019, Matthijs de Ligt joined Juventus from Ajax for €75 million on a five-year contract. At the time, he was considered one of the best young defenders in the world and won the Kopa Trophy in 2019 as the best young footballer.
Given Manchester United’s precarious situation, it appears de Ligt would have no issue joining Inter, who will soon compete in the Champions League final and have a strong chance of winning Serie A.
