Jamie Doesn’t Wait for the Last Game of the Season
Jamie Vardy Bids Farewell to Leicester in His 500th Match
Jamie Vardy played his last match for Leicester this week at King Power Stadium and will not take the field for his beloved team in the final week of the season.
Leicester City fans are still struggling to accept that their club legend Jamie Vardy has already bid farewell and will soon no longer be seen in the team’s blue jersey.
Fans had hoped to see him in their home stadium, King Power, this week and in the final league match at Bournemouth. However, it was confirmed today that Leicester’s match against Ipswich on Sunday night will be Vardy’s last appearance.
In recent days, some English media reported Vardy’s decision to retire, but he denied these reports today, stating he has no plans to retire. His future remains uncertain, but it seems Vardy will either join MLS in the U.S. or sign with Wrexham.
Leicester City, like their opponents Ipswich this week, has been relegated from the Premier League. The BBC reports that Vardy told club officials he sees no reason to participate in the ceremonial final match at Bournemouth. This Sunday, he will play his last match at King Power in front of the home fans, then leave Leicester for good—at least as a player. It can be guessed that this beloved Leicester legend may return to the club as a manager or coach in the coming years.
The BBC adds that Leicester City has agreed for this week’s match to be Vardy’s last, as Sunday will mark his 500th appearance for the club—a milestone that will remain in the memories of fans and football enthusiasts for years to come.
