Not at the Level of Milan, Real, or Barca
Joao Felix’s Latest Snub to Atletico Madrid
The Portuguese star and Atletico Madrid’s most expensive signing has once again omitted the club from the world’s elite.
According to reports, Joao Felix has struggled at AC Milan, where he moved on loan from Chelsea in January (the club that bought him from Atletico Madrid in the summer). He scored in his first Coppa Italia match but has since failed to find the net. Felix has not scored in 11 Serie A appearances and has not been in the starting lineup since late March.
The Portuguese star spoke about his time at Milan in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. He admitted that qualifying for European competitions next season would be difficult but emphasized that Milan should always be present in these tournaments.
In one of his responses, whether intentionally or not, Felix snubbed Atletico Madrid, the club that made a significant investment to sign him during his rise at Benfica.
He said: “When Milan calls you, it’s hard to say no. Milan, alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid, and a few others, is among the elite and most important clubs in the world.” This statement made no mention of Atletico Madrid.
Felix added: “Before receiving the offer, I watched Milan’s matches and thought I would love to play in this jersey. When the offer came, everything became easy. I told my agent, Jorge Mendes, to do whatever was necessary to finalize this transfer, and it worked out.”
