Al Hilal Coach’s Superstition Mirrors Famous Iranian Managers
Jorge Jesus Refuses to Shake Hands with Other Coaches!
Luís Castro, former Al Nassr manager, claimed that Jorge Jesus, ex-coach of Al Hilal, avoided shaking hands with rival managers before matches, believing it brought bad luck.
According to reports, Portuguese coach Luís Castro, former manager of Al Nassr, revealed amusing yet painful details about his relationship with Jorge Jesus, former coach of Al Hilal, during their time in the Saudi Pro League.
Castro, who initially managed Al Nassr before being replaced by Italian Stefano Pioli due to poor results, spoke about his encounters with his compatriot: “Jesus is my friend, but I don’t greet him in matches because he didn’t properly greet me either.
To be honest, Jesus has a strange superstition. He believes shaking hands with any coach before a match brings bad luck and leads to poor results for his team.
That’s why I literally chased him to break this superstition, but he kept running away to avoid shaking hands.
He won titles that I was closer to. He secured three trophies, while I only won one with Al Nassr. In the King’s Cup final, we were one step away from victory, but luck wasn’t on our side.
Ali Al-Hassan scored an incredible goal from outside the box, but after that stunning performance, he missed a penalty that could have brought us the title! I still can’t believe how that happened.”
When asked about his departure from Al Nassr, Castro briefly replied: “Nothing. Let’s continue the interview.” A response that again hinted at his reluctance to discuss the matter.
