Kimmich: We Won’t Lose Two Games 5-0, So We Are Champions!
Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich’s star, says the team’s championship is certain, regardless of their 3-3 draw against RB Leipzig today.
Bayern Munich could have secured the Bundesliga title today with a victory over RB Leipzig and came close, but a late goal by Yussuf Poulsen forced a 3-3 draw, delaying Bayern’s championship. However, if Bayer Leverkusen fails to defeat Freiburg tomorrow, Bayern will officially be crowned champions.
Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich’s midfielder, commented on the result: “If we’re honest, we are the champions of Germany. I doubt Leverkusen will win three games 7-0, and we won’t lose two games 5-0. Unless there’s a points deduction. It doesn’t matter—we are champions!”
Kimmich also said he would prefer the title to be officially confirmed next week: “I hope Leverkusen wins tomorrow.”
Kimmich then joked about Bayern canceling their Ibiza trip due to the delayed title celebrations: “Now we’re all traveling separately so no one notices!”
Currently, in the Bundesliga standings, Bayern Munich leads with 76 points, while Bayer Leverkusen, with one game in hand, has 67 points. If Leverkusen fails to defeat Freiburg, Bayern’s title will be confirmed.
