Kovač: We Are Ready to Qualify for the Champions League Without Changes
Niko Kovač, the head coach of Borussia Dortmund, claimed that without making changes to his squad compared to recent weeks, they are ready to secure victory against Holstein Kiel and qualify for the Champions League.
According to reports, Borussia Dortmund will host Holstein Kiel in the final matchday of the Bundesliga. Given the tight standings, Kovač’s team has no choice but to secure a win against the bottom-placed visitors while hoping for Freiburg to drop points in their simultaneous match. Currently, Dortmund sits in fifth place with 54 points, while Freiburg is one spot above with 55 points.
Niko Kovač said in the pre-match press conference: “Saturday’s outcome depends on us. We shouldn’t focus on Freiburg’s result because our fate is in our own hands.
We must build on what has strengthened us in recent weeks. We know it will be a tough match. We’ve done many things right lately and don’t need major changes in our preparation.
We treat every match as a final, and Saturday’s game is our last home final. We want to step onto the pitch from the first minute with the intention to win and take that final step. The clear goal is to qualify for the Champions League.
It’s a good feeling. We’ve been working towards this for a long time, and now it’s time to take the final step.”
